If you have a router!
Bypass the Router!... this is the
first step to checking to see if your PC can connect
and play the game if it does with the router bypassed this confirms the router
or
router configuration is the cause of your launch failure.
If you can connect with router bypassed then reconnect your router and be sure
you have the corerect manual .pdf
for your router
Begin at the
![]()
If you cannot connect with the router bypassed
check your dx setup
start game like you
were going to host a IP game.
What IP is atop chat box in blue room? write this ip down
If it is
whats show here on
whats my ip.
Your tcp/ip's
Winsock
network config, firewall or
DirectPlay is at fault
Click start then run, enter dxdiag in run box then click ok
At bottom of first tab click the Save All Information Button save file on desktop
Open file and search for DirectPlay Lobbyable Apps MCM2 needs to be listed (32bit only)
If not fully uninstall game beware all .tga's on game
drive will be deleted
Then reinstall
DirectPlay 8.2, then reinstall your
game to a root folder like C:/MCM2
In dxdiag under the network tab you can test the
directplay host and client
If its
not
whats show on
whats my ip. you
are on a LAN and behind a gateway
You are either hooked to the internet through a router or another PC
.If you are not the only one connecting through the router to the internet
than youll proabably have trouble launching.
Forward these ports
through the router to your PC's IP address.
47624 dx7
6073 dx8
2300-2400
open these to play at xfire and
gamespy
25999 x-fire
25777 x-fire ftp
13139 gamespy udp
read your router manual .pdf for port forwarding directions
note: if you have other applications that are
using ports their port
numbers need to be added to routers port forwarding table if not
they can steal the open ports you have added for mcm2
YOU CANNOT GUARANTEE MAPPING OF PORTS IF YOUR ROUTER
IS SET TO DHCP! > you can only try to limit the scope of ip's addressed <
Run a internal static LAN with IP, Gateway, Subnet and DNS entries
then router can properly send needed data to correct PC dependably
Most routers have firewalls/filters and other security settings enabled by
default
Some cable/dsl modems are routers/firewalls be sure you have the manual (.pdf.)
and can log into it so you can edit the settings, also some ISP's filter certain
ports
at best cheap routers (internet gateways) launch at best 90% of the time
get a linksys that can run linux router software on it and you might launch 95%
run a pc as a gateway/router with winroute lite and youll launch 100%
Stay away from usb network conections usb's regularly disconnect while
transferring data
but if you must be sure cable has not gotten pulled out and socket is not
damaged
do not use a usb hub inline from your pc to internet modem
Here are some helpful networking links if your still having issues
